Frequently Asked Questions

1. What does being a locum therapist mean?

Being a locum therapist simply means that you are not a staff member under any organisation. You have the power to set your own work schedule and will provide your therapy services to an organisation through us. Your work will be paid by the hour at a highly attractive rate.

2. As a locum therapist, will my work hours be counted towards the minimum mandatory practising hours required for the renewal of my AHPC Practising Certificate?

Yes, your work hours as a locum therapist will count towards the minimum mandatory practising hours required for the renewal of your AHPC Practising Certificate. You do not need to be a staff member under any organisation to clock these hours.

3. Does being a locum therapist mean I won’t have fixed work hours and, consequently, a fixed income?

Being a locum therapist is not the same as being an ad hoc therapist. As a locum therapist at SG Rehab, you will have a fixed work schedule and enjoy a steady income. At the same time, you will have the flexibility to choose a work schedule that matches your current needs and preferences, whether that means working half-days or full days, on all weekdays or only selected weekdays.

4. Apart from locum positions, are there part-time or full-time positions at SG Rehab?

At present, we offer locum positions only. Depending on the assignment, your work schedule may be equivalent to part-time or full-time hours. However, you will remain engaged as a locum therapist and be paid at an hourly rate rather than receiving a part-time or full-time salary.

5. Why Partner with SG Rehab?

An organisation may sometimes offer a higher hourly rate when you work with it directly. However, the hourly rate is only one part of the overall picture. SG Rehab works with multiple healthcare organisations and has insight into their current and upcoming staffing needs. This allows us to help you find suitable opportunities, plan for upcoming assignments and reduce potential gaps between placements.

We also manage much of the work behind each placement, including sourcing opportunities, coordinating schedules and requirements, communicating with organisations, handling contracts and invoicing, and providing ongoing administrative support.

While working independently may suit therapists who prefer to source and manage their own engagements, others may value the continuity and support that SG Rehab provides. When comparing your options, consider not only the hourly rate but also the available working hours, continuity of assignments, time spent finding opportunities and your overall earning potential.

Discover the value of partnering with SG Rehab beyond the hourly rate.
